At Baba Homecare we're committed to open and honest conversations, especially about money. We use a sliding scale for all clients, regardless of income. This allows us to remain affordable while providing an opportunity to support clients of lesser means and this queer-, disabled-led business
Minimum requirement of 2 hours per job.
One person: $31-62 per hour
Two people: $52-83 per hour

No matter where you choose to land on the sliding scale, our commitment to high-quality, restorative care remains the same. We believe everyone deserves a clean, peaceful space—and we’re here to support that, regardless of income.
If you’re working with a fixed budget, that’s absolutely okay. We’ll make the most of the time available to help your home feel refreshed and cared for.
If your budget is more flexible, we’ll send a sliding scale range after your cleaner wraps up. You choose the number that feels right—no questions asked, no judgment.
We are proud to serve the greater Triangle area in North Carolina. A small fee of ¢30/mi will be added for clients more than 15 minutes from Durham Station.
Baba Homecare cannot take responsibility for any fecal removal or cleaning outside the immediate toilet area. Our suggestion is to clean and maintain litter boxes regularly, especially before service. Any fecal removal will be considered extra and added as an incidental of $100 to the final invoice.
Advanced notice is preferred for any deep grout cleaning. An extra $20 per half hour of grout cleaning will be added to your final invoice.
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a service. This allows us to offer the time slot to another client and ensures our workers are compensated fairly. We understand that emergencies happen. In cases of non-emergency cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee may apply.
At Baba Homecare, we are committed to dignified pay for the people doing the work—especially in a field that’s been historically undervalued, underpaid, and invisibilized. All our cleaners make $20-25/hr with a training wage of $18/hr.
Your cleaning fee directly supports:
Fair wages for BIPOC, queer, trans, disabled, and neurodivergent workers
Paid training rooted in accessibility, trauma-informed care, and anti-oppression
A queer- and trans-owned business building sustainable, community-rooted care systems
Sliding scale access for clients facing financial barriers
We believe care work is skilled labor. We price accordingly—and transparently—so everyone involved is treated with respect.
We use a transparent tipping system to honor the extra care our workers bring to each visit. When clients pay above our base rate, that difference is treated as a Support Contribution (or tip) and a portion goes directly to the team. Here's how it works:
When a client pays above our base rate (the bottom of the sliding scale), the difference is treated as a Support Contribution—and 15% of that tip goes directly to the worker(s) who completed the job.
Example:
One cleaner does 3 hours of work and the client pays $200.
The base rate for one cleaner is the bottom of the sliding scale ($31/hr), which in this case is $93 (3 × $31).
The difference is $107 (200 minus 93) is considered the tip.
The worker receives 15% of $107, which equals $16.05 in additional pay.
